NAKED 2

Another Naked 2 review!! Wooo hooo!

Yes, I know. Everyone has already made a review on it, or compared it to the first Naked Palette. Please, forgive me, but I really need to share it with you :)

This palette has been so expected for those who loved the first Naked palette (review here). The first thing noticeable is that UD has changed the packaging: Now it's metallic, which is great, because velvet always gets dirty very quickly. Although it is metallic, it's not very heavy. It also has two small flaps that makes that sound "click" when it is being closed. And the mirror is much bigger! I think that UD has done a great job redesigning the packaging and all our suggestions have been taken into account.

Let's begin with Foxy: a warm matte vainilla. Pefect for illuminating softly, If we have used shimmer in other eye areas.

Half baked is the only shade that it's in both palettes. It's a metallic antiqued gold, super essential.

Bootycall: melocotón con shimmer. ¡Preciosa!

Bootycall: shimmering peach. Beautiful!

Chopper: soft copper with glitter. I love the colour, but it's a pity that it has so much glitter, it makes difficult to use it in daytime looks.

Tease: marrón frío con subtonos malva. Magnifica.

Tease: cool brown with mauve undertones. Great. But I think that it would be better in the Naked 1 palette rather than in this one, because that one had more cool shades.

Snakebite: marrón cálido con un punto rojizo.

Snakebite: warm brown with a touch of red.

Suspect: un marrón topo perfecto (subtonos grises)

Suspect: a perfect brown-taupe (grey undertones)

Pistol: one of the most special shades in the palette. Is a greenish grey, so beutiful!. However, the camera can`t get the true colour.

Verve: the perfect partner for Pistol. It's a very weird colour, almost a dirty greenish vainilla, but it looks great on the lid. It reminds me to MAC's Vex Eyeshadow, but without the pink shimmer.

YDK: this is a tricky one XD it looks like some kind of copperish colour, but when applied, it turns to pink. It has a lot of glitter.

Busted: Mi favorita junto a Chopper y Pistol.

Busted: my favourite one with Chopper and Pistol. It's a wine brown with a touch of mauve. It's similar to 100 strokes by MAC.

Blackout: that's what almost happened to me when I saw this shade. What a Black! Much better than Carbon by MAC. It's super intense, but it's very blendable and easy to work with.

The palette has also this double pointed brush: on the one side it's a flat brush, perfect for patting the colour and get intensity. On the other, is a blending brush. They both are synthetic, but are pretty good. However, I think, they work better with cream productos, or with the UD eyeshadows wet.

Yes, there are still more things! in this case, Urban Decay gives us this mini gloss as a gift, instead of the well known Urban Decay Primer Potion. It's a nice colour, very natural (in "naked" shade). It has menthol, so your lips will look fuller, but I know that the sensation of cool on the lips could not be the cup of tea of everybody.

Bueno, y ahora veamos las comparaciones:

Now, let's compare both palettes:

Well, there are the both of them together. As you can see, I have used the first one a lot... XD
The first thing I must point out is that Naked 2 has 3 matte shadows while the first one has only two. Foxy and Blackout are completely essential shadows in every eyeshadow collection.

Another thing is that a lot of bloggers think that the second one is more warm... well, it is true that it has a lot of coppery and red-brown shades, but also a beautiful matte mauve brown, greenish greys...  In my opinion, tease would be better situated close to the pink- mauve shades of the first palette rather than in this one.

Some shades are similar, that's true: virgin and bootycall are great hightlithing shades, but virgin is vainilla, meanwhile bootycall is a soft peach. There are also differences between the matte brown shades: the ones in the first palette are mor ochre, and tease tends to mauve. On the other hand, there are only one shadow that appears in both: half baked. In conclusion, I think that both complement each other great. If you liked the first Naked palette, you will enjoy also this one.

However, if I had to choose, I would rather prefer Naked 2. I think that the packaging is better and more safe. It also has more matte shadows ( I love them, I don't know why UD stopped making them). The double pointed brush is also a nice detail.

I must say that it was a little bit difficult to get this palette, because it was always sold out!. That's why when the UD seller told me that there was still one, I almost faint!. The price is 43 euros, but I had 20% discount. By the way, UD girls rocks! they are so nice, and beautiful! with all those tattoos and piercings, and edgy make up... Sephora workers are always great and nice, and I never had any problem with them (not like some MAC diva...) UD is liking me more and more.

¡Comentad!

Well, that's all, folks! Did you like my review? Do you like neutrals? or have you already so many that you don't need a palette like this? please, comment!

Verde sobre verde/ green over green

Hi everyone!:

Today I wanna show you a look that I did some time ago. It's very simple: a greenish gray on the lid, and a dark green blended eyeshadow over the crease. I also used a medium brown for blending, and a shimmer vainila for iluminating the browbone. I know the eyeliner is quite dramatic, but I wanted something sexy and defined, because the crease was soft.

Using a green eyeshadow in hazel eyes, like mine, make them look more brown. In my case, I love this kind of shades because are great for creating a contrast with red hair. However, I think that brown-eyed beauties will look great with this kind of eye make up :D

¡Espero que les haya gustado!

Hope you like it!

NARS Outremer

Hi, How are you?

Sorry, but I've been busy, studiying for exams and that stuff. I have a lot of unfinished posts, but the one I'm most interested in showing you is this one, about the NARS eyeshadow Outremer.

NARS fall 2011 promo image

As you can see, the beautiful model Mariacarla Boscono is wearing a electric matte blue eyeshadow. That's Outremer, (overseas). The lipstick is called pago pago, like the capital city of American Samoa, and the blush is called Oasis. Everything sounds very paradisiac, doesn't it?

As you can see is a very bright blue, sooooo awesome in person... It has a really matte finish, and a super pigmentation. However, it is very difficult to blend. That's because it's almost pure pigment, so it's necessary some technique and patience in order to blend it, but it's not impossible.

When I had it, I couldn't stop thinking about the Fall 2011 advertisement image. And today, I've had some free time, and I decided to copy the look, which I've learned by heart. I must say sorry, because I know it's not perfect, it was only a experiment. But I think is a very weareable look, for going out. I don't like how it looks on me, because I have the lids very small, but despite of that, I like it a lot :)

Ingredients/ Ingredientes:

- Missha perfect cover BB cream #23
- Sisley concealer in tone 3.
- Sisley powder in matte 1.
- Sleek blush in "fenberry".
- NARS' outremer eyeshadow.
- Bourjois khol and contourn in black.
- Maybelline feline look mascara.
- MAC Viva glam gaga 2 + deliplús mate lipstick nº 6

This eyeshadow accentuates the orange tones of brown eyes. My eyes are hazel, and with blue eyeshadows, they look more brown.

This colour is difficult to find in other brands. MAC's Atlantic blue look similar, but it has even more texture issues. Coastal scents' eyeshadows doesn't last as long as NARS' and they are not as vibrant.

I must say that some pigments (specially matte ones) usually doesn't blend well, and they do not mix well together neither. I know it because I studied arts, and we used to make our own acrylic paints, so I had to learn about pigments, and some chemistry. I saw that colours like this overseas blue (which in spanish is called like the eyeshadow), green cinnabar, or Zinc sulfide (this is cool, because glows with ultraviolet light!) are difficult to work with. But with some pattience, everything is possible. In this case, I think the best strategy is apply the eyeshadow as a colour block, patting it over the eyelid with a flat natural-hair brush.

How do you use this kind of colours? do you like this blue?
