¿Qué tal estais?

Ha pasado bastante tiempo desde la última vez que escribí. Sorry, esto de los exámenes ha sido peor que una tortura china. Tengo un montón de posts pendientes. Uno de los que más me interesaba escribir es este, sobre una sombrita de NARS, que salió en la colección de el pasado otoño. Pero no sufrais, este color azul eléctrico es permanente.

Sorry, but I've been busy, studiying for exams and that stuff. I have a lot of unfinished posts, but the one I'm most interested in showing you is this one, about the NARS eyeshadow Outremer.

Como podeis ver, la bellísima Mariacarla Boscono, lleva una preciosa sombra azul eléctrico mate. Es la sombra Outremer (ultramar), nombrada así por los increibles colores azules de las colonias de ultramar francesas. El labial se llama pago pago, como la capital de la Samoa americana, y el colorete, Oasis. Todo muy paradisíaco, ¿verdad?

As you can see, the beautiful model Mariacarla Boscono is wearing a electric matte blue eyeshadow. That's Outremer, (overseas). The lipstick is called pago pago, like the capital city of American Samoa, and the blush is called Oasis. Everything sounds very paradisiac, doesn't it?

Como podeis ver, es un azul súper intenso, y es todavía más alucinante en persona. Es una sombra muy mate, con una pigmentación altísima. Pero tiene un problema: al ser prácticamente pigmento puro, está poco tratado y eso hace que se difumine bastante mal. Requiere cierta técnica, pero no es imposible.

As you can see is a very bright blue, sooooo awesome in person... It has a really matte finish, and a super pigmentation. However, it is very difficult to blend. That's because it's almost pure pigment, so it's necessary some technique and patience in order to blend it, but it's not impossible.

Cuando la tuve entre mis manos, no pude evitar pensar en el cartel de la campaña de otoño de NARS, y estuve dándole vueltas, hasta que hoy he cogido en un momento, y he intentado copiar el look. Os pido disculpas porque lo hice de memoria, sin tomar ninguna referencia, y un poquito rápido, ya que era una prueba. Pero ya veis que es un look bastante aceptable para salir de fiesta. A mí no me queda del todo bien porque tengo el párpado móvil bastante pequeño, pero aún así, creo que me atreveré a lucirlo pronto :)

When I had it, I couldn't stop thinking about the Fall 2011 advertisement image. And today, I've had some free time, and I decided to copy the look, which I've learned by heart. I must say sorry, because I know it's not perfect, it was only a experiment. But I think is a very weareable look, for going out. I don't like how it looks on me, because I have the lids very small, but despite of that, I like it a lot :)

Ingredients/ Ingredientes:

- Missha perfect cover BB cream #23

- Sisley concealer in tone 3.

- Sisley powder in matte 1.

- Sleek blush in "fenberry".

- NARS' outremer eyeshadow.

- Bourjois khol and contourn in black.

- Maybelline feline look mascara.

- MAC Viva glam gaga 2 + deliplús mate lipstick nº 6



Ésta sombra acentúa mucho las tonalidades anaranjadas de los ojos marrones, aportándoles mucha vida. Si os fijais, mis ojos son duocromos (parte verde y parte marrón), y con este azul parecen más marrones.

This eyeshadow accentuates the orange tones of brown eyes. My eyes are hazel, and with blue eyeshadows, they look more brown.

Este tono es dificil de encontrar. Hay uno en MAC parecido, el Atlantic blue, pero considero que se trabaja todavía peor que ésta. Los colores de la paleta mate de Coastal Scents que tengo se difuminan algo mejor, pero entre los azules no hay ninguno tan vibrante como éste, y además tienen peor fijación.

Hay que aclarar que determinados pigmentos (especialmente los mates) tienden a difuminarse mal y mezclarse peor, lo se porque estudié bachillerato de artes, y solíamos hacer nuestras propias pinturas acrílicas, y por eso tuve que aprender sobre pigmentos. Ví que colores como el azul ultramar (éste pigmento en concreto se llama así en arte también), el verde cinabrio o el sulfuro de zinc (este mola porque brilla con la luz violeta), son difíciles de manejar. Pero con paciencia todo se consigue. En este caso, creo que esta sombra está más indicada para trabajarla en bloques monocolor, y aplicándola a toquecitos con un pincel de lengua de gato (plano) para crear el efecto colour block.¿Cómo usais vosotras estos colores? ¿Os gusta este azul?

This colour is difficult to find in other brands. MAC's Atlantic blue look similar, but it has even more texture issues. Coastal scents' eyeshadows doesn't last as long as NARS' and they are not as vibrant.

I must say that some pigments (specially matte ones) usually doesn't blend well, and they do not mix well together neither. I know it because I studied arts, and we used to make our own acrylic paints, so I had to learn about pigments, and some chemistry. I saw that colours like this overseas blue (which in spanish is called like the eyeshadow), green cinnabar, or Zinc sulfide (this is cool, because glows with ultraviolet light!) are difficult to work with. But with some pattience, everything is possible. In this case, I think the best strategy is apply the eyeshadow as a colour block, patting it over the eyelid with a flat natural-hair brush.
